Water Transmission Pipeline from Khaw PS to Za'atry PS

The ‘Water Resources Management Programme - II’ (WRMP - II) has been launched in 2013. In the framework of this programme the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan has arranged finance from the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany through the KfW Development Bank towards the costs for implementation of the project ‘Water Transmission Pipeline from Khaw PS to Za’atry PS.

This project is part of the ‘Water Resources Management Programme’ (WRMPII).

One component of WRMP-II is a water transmission pipeline between Khaw PS in Zarqa to Za’atry PS near Mafraq. The transmission pipeline will start from the Abu Alanda reservoir in Amman up to Khaw PS in Zarqa, this section of the pipeline will be financed by the French Government through the French Development Agency (AFD). The second section of the transmission pipeline will be from Khaw PS to Za’atry PS. This request relates to the transmission pipeline from Khaw PS to Za’atry PS.

Scope of work:
Demolish existing residential building next to 8,000 m3 reservoir, remove existing roads and relocate existing underground services to prepare construction of new reservoir.
• Connect new pipeline to the Abu Alanda-Khaw Water Transmission Pipeline.
• Construct approximately 35 km ductile cast iron pipeline DN 700 mm from Khaw PS to Za’atry PS including road crossings and air relieve valves and washouts.
• Construct 4,000 m3 blending reservoir to blend Disi water with water from local sources at Za’atry PS.
• Construct new valve and flow meter chamber including flow meters and control valves and install all associated pipe work and ancillary equipment connecting the various units, including connections to existing units where required.
• Connecting pipe lines to the blending reservoir and the valve and flow meter chamber.
• Fiber optic cable between Za’atry PS and Khaw PS. The fiber optic cable shall be redundant with one cable on either side of the new pipeline around 35 Km;
• All the necessary equipment (hardware) to connect the systems at Za’atry and Khaw PS;
• All the needed system software for a proper communication line;
• The transfer of all required data and control signals from Za’atry PS and Khaw PS vice versa as described in this design.
• Install new PLC and SCADA system including all connections with new and existing SCADA systems at Za’atry PS, Irbid and Khaw.
• Extensions to the low voltage distribution network
• Extensions of existing access roads within Za’atry PS to suit new units
• Additional external lighting
• Coordination with Contractor who is responsible for the design and construction of the water transmission pipeline from Abu Alanda to Khaw PS.
• Coordination with Contractors working on and near Za’atary PS on water projects.
