Project Description:

The Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings (EEPB) programme aims at improving energy efficiency in public buildings in Jordan for Ministry of Public Works and Housing (MoPWH, mainly office buildings), in total 21-buildings.

KfW on behalf the Federal Republic of Germany provides a loan to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan with MoPWH as the programme, executing agency, to finance technical measures concerning energy efficiency in these buildings. The Energy Saving Measures (ESM) mainly includes improvements and/or replacements of electro/mechanical systems, such as lighting, hot water, heating and air conditioning systems.

Energy consumption depends not only on the efficiency of the equipment but also on the "human" factors. Operation, maintenance and repair are very important. One of the goals of the accompanying measure will be to establish structures to ensure energy efficient operation of the installed equipment

In the long run, the programme aims at introducing energy efficiency as an important aspect to be considered in all procurement, construction and rehabilitation measures as well as in operation and maintenance of public buildings.

The overall programme objective is to contribute to climate protection and to reduce the budget constraints caused by high-energy costs of the Government of Jordan.

The following 21 buildings from Ministry of Public Works and Housing buildings have been selected by the Employer for the installation of Energy Saving measures:

5.Public Works Directorate Office of Al-Wasatiyah Sub governorate in lrbid, area of 400m2.

7.Public Works Directorate of lrbid, lrbid, area of 2600m2.

8.Public Works-Directorate of Office Northern-Jordan -va11ey, sub-governorate, lrbid, area of 400m2.

This project will include the following energy saving measures :

a.Lighting - lamp and fixture replacement

b.Construction of Photo Voltaic Systems

c.Replacement of existing split units air conditioners with inverter type AC split units.
